They don't come for advice.
They come to be heard. That's enough.

Couch Cases is a short visual novel about sitting across from someone and actually listening. Two days, six patients, your browser, about 40 minutes.

You are a psychotherapist. Over two working days, six people take the chair in your office — a perfectionist who can't remember herself without a project, a man who won't admit why he came, a nineteen-year-old whose mother booked the session. You don't fix them. You choose how to respond: reflect, mirror, name what's underneath, push back gently — or stay silent and let the room hold them.

Every reply matters. Trust rises and falls in real time. After each session the journal writes itself from your choices: the line that opened them up, the moment you pushed too hard, the work that comes next. There's no score to chase — only people who either felt heard, or didn't.

What's inside

  • Six patients across two days — each a self-contained session with multiple endings
  • A response system built on real therapeutic stances — not "right answers," but ways of being present
  • An after-session record that reflects the specific things you said
  • A quiet room that feels lived-in: rain at the window, a ginger cat that wanders in and sleeps at your patients' feet
  • Hand-illustrated portraits that shift with each patient's emotional state
  • Full localization in 6 languages — English, Русский, 简体中文, Español, Português, Deutsch
  • Free · runs in the browser · about 15 minutes

Free, in your browser, no download.

Content note. This game deals with depression, anxiety, burnout, OCD, grief, and suicidal thoughts. It is a work of fiction, not a substitute for therapy. If you're struggling, please reach out — to a friend, a professional, or a crisis line. You can find one for almost any country at findahelpline.com or befrienders.org.
